Waiting For The Black Swan ~ Update

AugureyeExpress April 16 2014

BlackSwan1It is a stormy night sometime in the winter of 1694 off the poorly charted western shore ofAustralia.   The Dutch trading vessel Ridderschap Van Holland is foundering in the heavy swells.  She is the flagship of the Dutch trading fleet and had sailed from Cape of Good Hope on February 5th with 300 crew and two passengers; they never arrived and were presumed lost at sea.  Two years later the Dutch sailing Captain Willem de Vlamingh went searching for survivors with an expedition of three ships.  The mission was a failure as no survivors or clues were ever discovered.  On the return trip the expedition charted the western shores of Australia thereby improving navigation on the Indian ocean route to the Dutch east Indies.  On January 10th of 1697 de Vlamingh ventured up the swan river; they were the first Europeans to ever do so.  He named it Zwaanernenriver, which is Dutch for Swan River….after seeing huge numbers of Black Swans, which until that day were considered an impossibility since all swans are white.

BlackSwan2Following this discovery the English coined the term “black swan” as a statement of impossibility flowing from the assumption that all swans are white.  The importance of the simile is it’s analogy to the fragility of any system of thought.  Any set of conclusions are potentially undone once any fundamental postulates are disproved.  The Black Swan Theory was developed by Nassim Nicholas Taleb in his 2004 book, Fooled by Randomness which was primarily concerned with the world of finance.  His next book in 2007 expanded the Black Swan Theory to encompass societal & political realities on Earth as well as the financial angle.

The Disadvantages Of Bottled Water

PlasticBottleOnWaterBottled water is one of the most convenient beverages. These days it’s right up there with Coke and Pepsi in terms of availability and abundance in the marketplace. Of course when these large corporations are also 50% of the market share for bottled water, you would expect to see this sort of thing.

It’s great that more and more Americans are drinking bottled water because perhaps that is a sign of them drinking less soda; which is just a sugary phosphoric acid drink. Of course we would love people to drink water over soda, however bottled water still has many disadvantages to be aware of.

To be specific, the real disadvantages are with plastic bottled water. Plastic is an issue not only because it causes chemical changes to your drinking water but it also has an massive effect on our environment (darn humans and our quest for convenience at all costs!)

There are 50 billion water bottles consumed globally each year. Around 30 billion of them are consumed in the US which shows that Americans are about 60% responsible for the problem while only being 4% of the global population. That’s 1,500 water bottles consumed every second in the U.S.

That’s a lot of bottles!

9.1 billion gallons or 29.1 gallons per person per year to be exact. That is based on 2011 statistics.

Trinity Bourne ~ Recipe – Malty-Maca, Mango & Coconut Smoothie

Wake Up World  April 16 2014

MangoSmoothieIn a culture that tends to bombard us with pollution, free-radicals, electro-smog and a myriad of vibrational lowering stress, I love to know that every morsel of what I eat is supporting my health and helping keep my vibration high. I love starting off the first meal of the day with a fresh juice or smoothie, loaded with nutritious gems.  Below, I’m sharing a recipe for my malty-maca, mango and coconut smoothie that delivers a plethora of amino acids, minerals, vitamins and anti-oxidant properties.

So what is maca? Maca is an incredible plant, growing at extremely high altitudes (7000ft and above) in the Peruvian Mountains. It’s very hardy, surviving in a place where little or no other foods grow (which already tells me that it has some very noteworthy properties to offer). It has adaptogenic properties, which means that it helps you cope in stressful situations – physically, mentally and energetically. It’s well known for supporting and regulating the endocrine system in both men and women. The endocrine system is responsible for healthy functioning of hormones (which are essential for regulation of energy levels, digestion, brain function, the nervous system, fertility and wellness in general). Women have noticed that it helps to balance hormones reducing menopausal and pre-menstrual symptoms, whilst men have observed that it helps support fertility and sexual functions. It’s an all round gift.

So here’s how I make my ‘Malty-Maca, Mango & Coconut Smoothie’…

J. D. Heyes ~ $64 Million In Bribes Paid To UK Doctors Last Year By Drug Companies

NaturalNews  April 16 2014

BigPharmaBribeDoctorsNew data that once again highlights the incestuous relationship between Big Pharma and the medical industry indicate that British doctors were paid some $64 million by drug makers, which was only slightly less than in 2012.

According to Reuters, such industry payments to physicians have increasingly come under scrutiny following several scandals involving drug sales practices, most notably in the United States, as well as concerns that such close ties put commercial interests of drug makers ahead of what is best for patients.

As noted by Reuters:

The figure, announced by the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) on Thursday, was slightly down on the 2012 level of 40 million pounds [about $66.9 million].

Cozy relationships going to see the light of day
