This past week’s news reports of the Senate report on the CIA Torture program were both distressing and enlightening. I was dismayed to not only read what the full extent of the CIA’s Torture program was, but also when I read pundits and former CIA officials claim that rectal rehydration was merely a medical procedure! I was further discouraged when commenters on this blog made claims that waterboarding and other torture tactics were either necessary or what the devils deserved.
Very few pundits or commenters seem to care if the so-called Enhanced Interrogation techniques were legal or ethical when the CIA resorted to them shortly after 9/11. This “debate” over the actions taken in our name by the CIA has gone from a report based on the CIA’s own words to denials that the techniques were torture, to claims that great intelligence value was gained using the torture and claims that it was a biased report written by Democrats.
When we were attacked on September 11, 2001, most of the world was supporting the United States in its hours of grief and anger. What happened after the attacks quickly turned the tide of world opinion against us and created new enemies. When the CIA delved into its historical “playbook” to devise black sites and brutal interrogation techniques, the result, in my opinion, was a loss of our ethical and legal bearings that are still out of whack today.
When our greatest generation fought enemies stronger and just as brutal as what we face today, our forces were held to a higher standard than the enemy we were fighting. The idea that America does not torture or mistreat its prisoners or enemies is not a new one. It dates back at least to when General George Washington decided that British regulars and paid mercenaries fighting for the British were not to be mistreated in our detention facilities. On the wall of George Orwell’s Ministry of Truth from his novel 1984 there were three slogans:
It occurred to me that these apply just a little bit too well to the way the Washington, DC establishment operates.
War certainly is peace: just look at how peaceful Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen, Libya, Syria and the Ukraine have become thanks to their peacemaking efforts. The only departures from absolute peacefulness which might be taking place there have to do with the fact that there are some people still alive there. This should resolve itself on its own, especially in the Ukraine, where the people now face the prospect of surviving a cold winter without heat or electricity.
Freedom is indeed slavery: to enjoy their “freedom,” Americans spend most of their lives working off debt, be it a mortgage, medical debt incurred due to an illness, or student loans. Alternatively, they can also enjoy it by rotting in jail. They also work longer hours with less time off and worse benefits than in any other developed country, and their wages haven’t increased in two generations.
And what keeps it all happening is the fact that ignorance is indeed strength; if it wasn’t for the Americans’ overwhelming, willful ignorance of both their own affairs and the world at large, they would have rebelled by now, and the whole house of cards would have come tumbling down.
But there is a fourth slogan they need to add to the wall of Washington’s Ministry of Truth. It is this:
Consider the two counties in Oregon (Jackson and Josephine) that banned GMO crops.
Consider the measures in Maui, Kauai, and the Big Island of Hawaii that blocked further development of GMOs and the spraying of toxic pesticides.
They all won.
Then the state government of Oregon, in order to stop the trend, passed a law forbidding counties from unilaterally banning GMOs.
In Hawaii, a federal magistrate struck down the victories in Kauai and the Big Island, on the basis that such matters are controlled by state law. If he has his way, he’ll render the same opinion re Maui.
In each case, the determination is the same: state law takes precedence over county law.
Translation: the state can decide what its own powers are, and then enforce them. The courts and judges will fall into line.
This was exactly, on a higher level, what the US Constitution was framed to avoid. That document ceded enumerated powers to the federal government; all other powers were reserved for the individual states or the people. Continue reading

Some people are still under the impression that the Rockefeller Foundation is all about philanthropy: helping people and saving lives. Those people are Bill Gates and Bill Gates and Warren Buffet.
In reality, the Rockefellers have been one of the largest financial backers and drivers of the eugenics and the depopulation agenda in this country for over a century now.

The first is from The Salem Daily Capital Journal printed Thursday, November 4th, 1915.
The article, “Rockefeller, Jr., On Eugenic Problems,” is about a play produced by the Rockefellers called “The Unborn.” Jr. says:
“For the first time in dramatic history the perplexing problem of the limitation of undesirable offspring which has been engaging the attention of thoughtful eugenists and sociologists the world over is dealt with on the stage in a play that we are to produce. The right of the child to be well-born and the right of the wife to decide about it are problems the solution of which society can no longer ignore.”
