Jonathan Turley – Prime Minister David Cameron has stated that he will step down after the historic vote yesterday for the UK voted to leave the European Union.  It is a blow for President Barack Obama who put everything on the line to push the British to stay in the EU, including seriously overplaying his hand (and role) in issuing dire warnings to the British people.  The warning backfired and only reaffirmed the feeling that there is now a world order that will not tolerate traditional democratic controls over national policies and practices.

Boris Johnson is likely to be the next prime minister and heralded the ability of Britain to now pass its own laws, set its own taxes and control its own borders.

I could see both sides of this argument.  I have long been uncomfortable with the shifting of governance powers to international organizations like the EU which are not subject to the same democratic pressures as a national government.  The proponents scored huge points by pointing out that few people could even name the top officials in the EU.

I thought that President Obama was overbearing in his intervention in the debate, warnings that seemed to only harden the resolve of the independence movement.  I can see the economic benefits of being part of the EU, though it would seem clear that close trade would necessarily have to continue.

The Brits wanted control over their own laws and I am highly sympathetic to that desire.  EU countries are subject to edicts that seem to come from no where on everything from cheese preparation to taxes.  People felt that they no longer had a direct say on who was writing their laws and who was really leading their country.  Neither Cameron nor Obama seemed to get the movement.  They also continued to miss (as do the Democrats in this country) the strong sentiments over immigration.

What do you think?

  1. There are troubled times ahead for the brits and countries in the EU…this was planned in advance…with the admittance of the Yaun into the SDR at the end of last year, the old lady of threadneedle street gave up one third of their share of the currency basket to allow the Yaun in…

It stands to reason that trade deals must have already been in place for this to happen, britain couldn’t openly trade with China and other countries outside of the EU without EU interference, tarrifs, bureaucracy, fines……etc.

The currency shift was the first to hit…the old lady of threadneedle street gave up one third (33%) of its share of the SDR currency basket and now we see Lloyds being down 30% on the share value and RBS being down 34%…

This is not the time to celebrate, but rather a time of reflection…

Cameron resigning is indicative of the first rat to jump from the sinking ship, and given he is the head of the executive branch of government this says alot about where Britain may be headed and why he no longer wants to be at the helm…

    Just my thoughts.

    Peace.

    1. The British people did the world a HUGE favor by signaling their NEGATION of the Globalist Agenda. The IMF changed the game to let the yuan in to the basket of currencies. The British pound will indeed be manipulated for all it’s worth to FOOL THE PEOPLE into thinking their vote for FREEDOM and AUTONOMY was the wrong vote.

Cameron did NOT do what he said he would if he were defeated. He was to IMMEDIATELY INVOKE Article 50 to start the process of getting the Brits out of the EU. He instead is buying time by shuttling his responsibility to the British voter to the next man – in October.

WHY BUY TIME IF THE GLOBALISTS WANT TO DITCH BRITAIN FROM THE EU? No, my friend, the Brits did the world a powerful GOOD by REPUDIATING debt slavery and loss of national autonomy. I applaud the British people and thank them for their VOTE for a FREE HUMANITY.

      WELL DONE, GREAT BRITAIN! CONGRATULATIONS.
