When Chaos Reigns

Getting sick doesn’t mean you are a bad person or that you have failed in any way. It just means we live in a soup. We live in a soup that is called life on this planet. And out of this soup… comes RENEWAL.” – D Vance

butterflyFlowerStarLifeOn January 5th we loaded up the car, with our two cats, and headed off to our new home in Texas. It was cold and snowy. On the way, it was cold and rainy. The cats fussed vocally the whole two-day trip.

As we arrived at the hotel on Day 2, I twisted in my seat, leaned over to pull the driver’s seat forward, and managed to pull the intercostal muscles in my ribcage. Ouch! If you have ever pulled these muscles, you know the pain continues to worsen for about five days.

The next morning, as I tried to protect my ribs, I pulled my lower back muscles. Big Ouch! By that evening I also managed to “catch” the cold everyone seemed to have. Coughing or sneezing was agonizing and would cause my back and ribs to spasm. For two days I lived in a fog while Owen managed to meet the movers and find some sheets and towels so we could actually move into the house!

The following morning, we got up to go into town to shop for groceries and the batteries to both cars were dead. How is that even possible?

Then my computer died…two other power appliances died… then my Vitamix blender, which is practically indestructible, started making a funny noise when I turned it on…

Boxes are piled to the ceiling. We can’t find anything. I can barely bend over to start unpacking without causing severe spasms in my back or ribs…It’s chaos.

If you’re older than two, you know by now life is not always easy. Things don’t always go your way. We grow out of the Terrible Twos and learn this lesson.

Spiritual Mastery is not about a perfect life where everything is easy and goes your way. “Being in the Flow” does not mean there are no bumps in the road.

Getting sick doesn’t mean you are a bad person or that you have failed in any way.

It just means we live in a soup. We live in a soup that is called life on this planet.

And out of this soup… comes RENEWAL.

Now, I feel better. I can bend and move without restriction. I have a new computer. The cars have new batteries. The boxes are slowly diminishing. The weather has been beautiful for a couple of days, holding the promise of Spring.

Out of chaos comes renewal.

Renewal. It is the cycle of life that moves us forward. It is newness. It is beginning. It holds the promise of growth. It holds potential. We hold this potential.

There is rhythm to our lives. We live in the same harmony as nature.

It is this rhythm that guides us. It is this harmony that sings within us during the chaos.

It is this awareness of inner connection that allows us to smile with complete confidence and joy even when chaos reigns!

Knowing this Awareness within us and consciously holding the inner connection is the beginning of mastery. Knowing this, you are never out of the flow.
