Dreams From Your Higher Self? Decoding The Common Symbols

dreamsHelen Elizabeth Williams – What is the hidden meaning of your dreams? Your higher self guides you in mysterious ways. The biggest bridge between your spirit and your mind is being “built” by your subconscious while you are sleeping. There are also symbolisms in dreams which can be interpreted meaningfully.

We are on the lookout for mysteries all around the world and we fail to acknowledge the one that we face every night: dreaming.

Understanding what our dream highlights, what it means, is a mystery for most. Leading scientists and psychologists alike, agree that understanding the meaning of dreams is an uphill battle that is unlikely to be won anytime soon.

This is despite the well documented beliefs which were commonly expressed by Freud.

According to a professional dream worker, images and symbols used in dreams are manifestations of deeper emotional concepts.

Despite the fact that each dream is supposed to be unique and all dreams mean different things to different people, there are some dreams that are similar in symbolism.

These symbols can give us an insight into what a dream means, despite not necessarily deciphering the whole dream itself.

Understanding Some Common Symbols Used in Dreams

Here, we will take a look at some of the common symbols that readily appear in our dreams and what they represent.

Driving

Our dreams evolve in line with what we see and how times have moved on. Nightmares about wolves, animals appearing out of the dark to harm you were probably common back in the early days.

Now, with the passage of time, wolves have been replaced by other things, like cars.

Car accidents are believed to be one of the more frequent causes of death today, just like getting killed by wild animals was a big probability in ancient times.

If you witness yourself driving haphazardly or being in the passenger seat of a car, it can highlight a lack of control in your life or the absence of a sense of direction.

Teeth

Teeth are part of our day to day functions and form an important part of our life. The fact that they are ever-present in the lives of most people, highlights them as a definitive symbol.

Witnessing rotting or falling out of your teeth can identify something going wrong in your subconscious, that could also represent an impending embarrassment.

People

Here is where your mind plays tricks on you. Seeing someone else in your dream is actually an indication of yourself.

The other person is often the person our subconscious wants us to be. They represent the characteristics that we lack.

Marriage

Oh, so you dreamt about getting married, so you might have a marriage coming up in your real world? No, not quite.

A marriage is not a future telling sign that you are about to get married. Instead, a marriage often highlights that you are about to enter a new, developmental phase in your life.

Marriage is often associated with uncertainty, which is not always negative since you look forward to these uncertainties without being overtly skeptical of them.

Water

The most common occurrence in one’s dreams can be water. Whether it comes in the form of waves, tsunamis, floods or randomly floating around you, the state that the water is in, represents our unconscious minds and the emotions that it is going through.

Murky, clear or calm water will each have different meanings. It’s hard to interpret exactly what is meant by the appearance of water, since water is both a giver of life, sustainer of life and something that can cause havoc and devastation.

Death

The scariest of dreams are often the ones where you end up dying. Understanding why you have died when you are actually alive and healthy, is something unknown.

While most experts can perceive death in your dreams as being a sign of an impending danger, there are those that disagree.

Death, believe it or not, in the context of a dream is not always bad. It can sometimes represent a new beginning and the end of something that may have grown old.

Conclusion

Dreams are a way of communication for your spirit. Some try to find their hidden meaning, while others ignore them completely, but dreams are a universal language which either ponder on what has happened or allude to what might happen.

The thing about dreams is that they don’t mean the same for two people even if they have witnessed the exact same thing, which makes them even more of a mystery.

  1. A good reminder to pay attention to this personal well of wisdom and guidance.

When I was first becoming aware of the wealth offered in my dreams, I had a dream of my brother Ben. I realized that my subconscious was using the label “Ben” to refer to the past – what has “been.” In the dream, I could hear Ben coughing in the barn where we grew up. All was dark except for a brilliant light showing around the crack of the door.

I began the important work of mining my own past for clues to freeing myself from it – a work that continues.

Thank you for this reminder and post.
