Morty Lefkoe ~ How Do You Communicate The Unbelievable?

LefkoeInstitute April 24 2014

EraseImpossibleMorty writes ~ I’ve noticed that when I tell any medical personnel that my cancer diagnosis has resulted in absolutely no stress whatsoever, I am often met with outright statements of disbelief. Sometimes they are more polite: they smile politely and say: “That’s wonderful, and here is what I recommend when you feel stress.”

Most of the people in the medical and psychological fields just can’t wrap their head around the fact that it is possible to eliminate virtually all negative emotions—in other words, end all mental suffering—from their lives without repressing emotions. It just isn’t possible! It’s incompatible with “human nature”!

The belief that permanent change is not possible and can’t possibly be accomplished quickly and relatively easily is not limited to medical people. Recently I was discussing my business with a group of business owners and management consultants who are friends of mine. I realized early in the conversation that even though they knew me and trusted me as a friend, they still just couldn’t quite accept the fact that we can help people get rid of lifelong behavioral and emotional patterns permanently, by unlearning a few beliefs and deconditioning a few conditionings—and in only a few short hours.

Moreover, at least half of the people who call the Lefkoe Institute and inquire about what we do and how we do it are very skeptical when they hear our answers.

Most new ideas are rejected

Most breakthrough ideas are generally considered to be unbelievable when they are first introduced.

Arthur Schopenhauer, a noted 19th century German philosopher, described the stages most new ideas pass through: “All truth passes through three stages: First, it is ridiculed; Second, it is violently opposed; and Third, it is accepted as self-evident.”

I’ve noticed the reaction of many people operating out of the first two stages when they learn about The Lefkoe Method: “I don’t believe that.” “You can’t eliminate beliefs permanently.” ”Certain events are upsetting; if you’re a human being, suffering is inevitable.” One noted psychologist went so far as to tell me: “Anyone who claims to permanently eliminate beliefs is a fraud,” right after I told him we’ve had thousands of clients who have done just that. (Since then about 150,000 people around the world have used our free on line belief-elimination process to eliminate at least one belief.)

If I described all the things that TLM can really do, it would be totally unbelievable to most people. If I tried to were to try to describe TLM in a way that makes it more believable, I wouldn’t be able to distinguish TLM from every other process that claims to help people improve the quality if their lives.

It became clear to me early on that some of the specific qualities I claim are possible for any human being to exhibit are so far from most people’s reality that they sound impossible. And if that is the case, how does one communicate the unbelievable? What does it take to get people to be open to something they “know” is impossible for human beings?

How do you get people to be open to new ideas?

I’ve got a few ideas. First, help people identify and eliminate the beliefs that hinder their ability to be open to new ideas, if they are open to doing that.

Second, help them to realize that their emotion of disbelief is the result of the meaning they have given my claims, and then dissolve that meaning, if they are open to that.

These two things would certainly help people open up to a new idea. But I’m not sure if that would be sufficient. And I’m not sure what else would be required.

Do you have any additional suggestions for how to get people to seriously consider the possibility of a new idea, one that is inconsistent with what they already “know” is the truth?

An Update On My Cancer

At the moment I am in Chicago with two bags of chemical are being dripped into me. I decided to be treated for my colon cancer that has metastases to my liver at a place called the Block Center for Integrative Cancer Treatment. I chose them because they are not only concerned with killing my cancer with chemo using innovative chemo treatments, they are equally focused on helping me improve my diet, my supplements, and my physical exercise regime to help rebuild my immune system.

I feel very good about my treatment and expect to recover fully. I love reading the hundreds of messages of love and support. They really do make a difference to me; I really appreciate hearing from you.
