Every spiritual seeker has seen references to seven this, seven that, seven of all sorts of spiritual kinds of things. This is because the number seven is believed to be the number of spirituality.
In the Bible, it is said that God created all things and then rested on the seventh day. As a result, we have a seven-day week, with the seventh day traditionally reserved for spiritual practice.
A few centuries ago, there were seven known planets or celestial bodies – Saturn, Mercury, Jupiter, Mars, Venus, the Moon, and the Sun. Since then, Uranus, Pluto, and other minor celestial bodies have been discovered, along with the fact that the Earth is itself an orbiting planet and not the stationary center of the universe.
At the same time, there were seven known metals. They were lead, mercury, tin, iron, copper, silver, and what was seen as the ultimate result of the evolution of metals – gold. These days, an additional 79 metals are known to the science of chemistry.
There were even Seven Seas, although the list of what they were varied over the centuries along with the discovery of new parts of the world. However, there always had to be seven seas because of the established power of the number seven and, well, because it sounded good. Let’s face it, nobody really wants to “sail the one hundred and four seas” that each have their own names today.
There were Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and – surely a sign from God – the Seven Hills of Rome.
You would think that the seven colors of the rainbow is a number based in hard reality. But, is it? In 1672, Newton, who admitted his eyes were not very critical in distinguishing colors, originally divided the color spectrum into five main colors; red, yellow, green, blue and violet. Later he added orange and indigo out of a belief derived from ancient Greece that there is a connection between the colors, the seven musical notes, the seven known objects in the Solar System, and the seven days of the week. In reality, the color spectrum looks primarily suited to a simple, 3-color range of Red-Green-Blue:
According to some schools of thought, each human is supposed to have seven subtle energy bodies.
I count three: Etheric, auric/astral, and soul. Where did the other four come from? Must there be seven of everything?
Even the seven musical notes on the piano keyboard isn’t quite right. There may be seven major keys in each octave but, if you include the five minor keys, you have a much more realistic set of twelve keys per octave and, significantly, each of the twelve keys is exactly one half-tone apart from its neighbors.
Obviously, there has been a compulsion to make seven a number of great significance. There are seven major chakras, although, as five of them have both front and back faces, counting their twelve individual faces produces more useful information.
The human chakra faces are not the only example of twelve of everything in Creation. Twelves keep showing up everywhere you look in the metaphysical structure of the universe.
The Structure of the Universe
The Law of Creation has three components that form a medium for Creation to occur, or what could be called the Creative Matrix. In order to create the complexity necessary for our physical universe to exist, those three original components of the Creative Matrix are then combined with each other to form an additional nine combinations. This addition of nine (three times three) extra components is called the Triple Matrix Effect.
That 12-part model of Creation – the 3-part Creative Matrix plus the 9 more combinations created by the Triple Matrix Effect – is used and re-used throughout Creation, and not just in the twelve chakra faces. For example:
The Twelve Levels of Existence: There are twelve levels of existence in the universe – three Divine and nine more, each level becoming more focused and dense than the one above it. We currently live in a dense physical level which is about to transform into a less-dense version when all matter on the planet moves up into a higher physical frequency.
The Twelve Dimensions: There are twelve main dimensions or properties (such as space and time) attributable to every physical object. They are the three Divine aspects of consciousness that created the Divine framework plus nine physical dimensions. Those nine physical dimensions fit into the categories of space, time, and different forms of energies and consciousness.
The Cosmic Cycles of Influence: In the physical realm, you experience a different solar cycle every year starting from your date of birth. Like all aspects of Creation, there are three immaterial or Divine cycles that form the nine physical cycles. As you may already know from our Power of Cosmic Cycles course, it is the nine physical cycles that are of direct concern to life in the physical realm. For example, your first year of life is yearly cycle number one. Your ninth year of life is yearly cycle number nine. Then, a new major cycle of nine years begins. In that case, you are experiencing another number one yearly cycle, but this time within the overall influence of a second major (9-year) cycle.
The Spiritual Laws of Life: There are three Divine laws within the original Law of Creation. Then, there are nine more spiritual laws of life, created by the Triple Matrix Effect, that govern physical manifestation.
