Creative marketing campaign brings rejected fruit and veggies to life!

It is estimated that we waste over 300 million tons of food per year.  Many fruits and vegetables are rejected by supermarket buyers because they don’t meet the strict criteria of looking perfect.

An important detail when selling to picky consumers! What do you do with all the fruit and vegetables that are deformed and too ugly to sell?  You get creative!  This is what the French supermarket Intermarche did to solve the huge problem of food waste.

In a very clever marketing effort, the less than perfect food is glorified, getting its own label and aisles in the store, taking on personalities, and selling like wildfire at a 30% discount! Consumers are happily buying, eating, and solving a waste problem all in one.  A huge victory on all fronts!
