While cannabis in the United States remains federally illegal, many states have legalized cannabis for approved medical conditions (and several states have made cannabis legal for both medical and adult use). To fulfill the requirements for medical marijuana, patients must have a diagnosed disease on the list of medical marijuana conditions qualifying for their state. A certified patient can obtain a medical marijuana card or authorization to visit dispensaries and buy medical marijuana products with the recommendation of a local physician.
