JK Rowling Dares Scotland to Enforce Anti-Free Speech LawJonathan Turley – We have previously discussed the growing anti-free speech movement in Scotland with the expanding criminalization of political and religious speech. The new Scottish law is a perfect nightmare for free speech, expanding the potential of a jail sentence for merely insulting language. In response, author JK Rowling has taken a stand and dared the Scottish police to come and arrest her for criticizing transgender status.

Scottish Parliament Members Back Making Emergency Covid Powers Permanent

Niamh Harris – Members of the Scottish Parliament (MSPs) have voted to make some of the emergency Covid-19 powers permanent, including the ability to close schools and impose lockdowns.

Opposition politicians said the bill amounted to a “power grab”.

BBC reports: MSPs took five hours to debate more than 90 amendments to the Coronavirus (Recovery and Reform) Bill before passing it by 66 votes to 52.

The bill proposes changes in 35 specific legislative areas, many of which originated in temporary Scottish and UK Covid legislation. Continue reading

Scotland: Investigation Launched Into Abnormal Rise In Newborn Baby Deaths

Niamh Harris – An investigation has been launched following an abnormal increase in deaths among newborn babies in Scotland.

21 babies died during September within 28 days of birth, according to official figures.

Infant death rates vary widely from month to month but the increase was larger than expected from chance alone.

Public Health Scotland (PHS) and other agencies will are now looking into whether the Covid pandemic or other factors could be behind the increase. Continue reading

vaccine passportSean Adl-Tabatabai – The people of Scotland have had enough of the authoritarian government led by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, and now businesses are rejecting the vaccine passport scheme.

Business owners across the country declared that they would refuse to enforce Sturgeon’s new passport scheme after the technology behind the app failed within seconds of launching.

Football stadiums, nightclubs and other venues were expected to begin mandating proof of vaccination to citizens wanting to enter. Continue reading
