US Gen. Warns Russia’s Putin Will Attack If NATO Not United

We are good, the Russians are bad. The old fashioned term for this is propaganda.

Jim Dean – US foreign policy continues to make a fool of itself, abusing our military to be the sacrificial lamb in terms of its loss of prestige with the American people in promoting this fairy tale about Putin planning to attack Europe to restore the old Soviet Union.

This is more bogus than the Iran nuclear weapons scam, but different in that the Intel and military people never substantiated it. The scamsters were concentrated among the political spinmeisters and the Israeli Lobby and NeoCons embedded in the State Department.

I could take a college senior ROTC class through an exercise of looking at the Russian order of battle, and what is physically required not only to take territory, but to resupply the force and hold ground in its rear. And idiot could see through the fraud with one seminar.

But part two of the scam, the critical part… is that there is no analysis. The focus group shrinks report that the public is so dumbed down, and/or lazy, that they will “believe” whatever they are told, as long as it is repeated enough.

They have a old fashioned term for this… propaganda. “We are good. Russians are bad.” Even the dumbest of the dumb can remember this, and they become foreign policy experts. When General Hodges gave this press conference, he should have been booed and hissed by the press corps as soon as he trotted out this well-worn Russian threat ploy.

Sure, we all know that Europeans prefer the American taxpayers to foot most of the bill for their security, because they know we have the financial tools to suck up more funding resources than most. The proper tool to encourage more expenditures on their part is to begin reducing the American military footprint there.

The Pentagon needs to get a huge number of calls that people are tired and embarrassed to keep reading the Pentagon’s fairy tales in mass media about these manufactured threats. You can add to that their involvement in training terrorists, directly and indirectly, and their stand down on 9-11. It is time to let them know their trust quotient is going down

First published  May 7,  2015  – The US Army’s top commander in Europe warns that failure among NATO allies to make a robust show of their military capabilities would embolden Russian President Vladimir Putin to take aggressive moves against the alliance.

“So far, we’re sticking together. And as long as we do and as long as we show that we are capable, then there isn’t going to be a Russian attack,” Lt. Gen. Ben Hodges said during a conference of alliance land commanders in Germany, according to Stars and Stripes.

The surest way to prevent an attack, Hodges said, was for the United States and its allies to showcase their might and resolve through a strong military “exercise program.”

“But I am sure, that if he (Putin) senses that the United States won’t respond to support Poland, or that the UK will not support Latvia, or that Portugal will not support Estonia, then I think the possibility for a pre-emptive attack of some sort, I think it’s very possible,” Hodges said.

Military leaders and other representatives from NATO and several non-NATO member states took part in the three-day planning conference at the NATO School Oberammergau in southern Germany, which aims to help set the stage for future large-scale training operations around eastern Europe.

Anakonda 16, a major military exercise held every two years, was a major focus at the conference.

Troops from several NATO countries —including around 20,000 US soldiers — will converge on a training ground in Poland for the exercise, which serves as a counterweight to recent Russian war games.

Russia has warned that the US involvement could further “destabilize” Ukraine. The conflict has killed more than 7,000 civilians and around 1,600 soldiers.

Ties between Washington and Moscow have reached an all-time low over the crisis in Ukraine, which began after pro-Western forces ousted the country’s president, Viktor Yanukovych, in February 2014.
