The Paranormal As An Object Of Ridicule, Scorn, And Fear

If you want evidence that paranormal abilities exist, Dean Radin’s groundbreaking book, The Conscious Universe, will supply it. Radin examined hundreds of well-formed lab studies and concluded that the performance of human volunteers demonstrated, statistically, such abilities.

But this article is not about that. Nor is it about woo-woo people who see extra-sensory influences everywhere.

In movies, the paranormal is usually presented as horror, something that jumps out of the wall and attacks people.

Otherwise, “paranormal” is used as a term of scorn, like “conspiracy theorist.” It refers to people who should be isolated from the general population, for fear they’ll spread contaminated delusions.

The media transmit this scorn and ridicule by choosing the most bizarre stories:

A Biloxi bus driver told a local reporter, “While I was eating a hot dog in the corner coffee shop, an invisible Martian snatched it away from me and shoved it in his ear.”

Underlying all this nonsense is a core subconscious anxiety about consensus reality: it may be a sham.

The laws of physics may be provisional and subject to suspension.

And worse yet, there may be people among us who have experienced what happens when these laws are suspended.

People may have experienced telepathy, accurate glimpses of the future, and other “illegitimate” phenomena.

Our Invisible Revolution

“Did you ever ask yourself how it happens that government and capitalism continue to exist in spite of all the evil and trouble they are causing in the world?” the anarchist Alexander Berkman wrote in his essay “The Idea Is the Thing.” “If you did, then your answer must have been that it is because the people support those institutions, and that they support them because they believe in them.”

Berkman was right. As long as most citizens believe in the ideas that justify global capitalism, the private and state institutions that serve our corporate masters are unassailable. When these ideas are shattered, the institutions that buttress the ruling class deflate and collapse. The battle of ideas is percolating below the surface. It is a battle the corporate state is steadily losing. An increasing number of Americans are getting it. They know that we have been stripped of political power. They recognize that we have been shorn of our most basic and cherished civil liberties, and live under the gaze of the most intrusive security and surveillance apparatus in human history. Half the country lives in poverty. Many of the rest of us, if the corporate state is not overthrown, will join them. These truths are no longer hidden.

It appears that political ferment is dormant in the United States. This is incorrect. The ideas that sustain the corporate state are swiftly losing their efficacy across the political spectrum. The ideas that are rising to take their place, however, are inchoate. The right has retreated into Christian fascism and a celebration of the gun culture. The left, knocked off balance by decades of fierce state repression in the name of anti-communism, is struggling to rebuild and define itself. Popular revulsion for the ruling elite, however, is nearly universal. It is a question of which ideas will capture the public’s imagination.

Cameron writes ~ Today I have not one, but TWO podcasts for you.  The first one is probably the best interview that I have had to date, and the interviewer was someone many of you have already heard of:  George Kavassilas.

George contacted me after reading “Why I am No Longer a Lightworker” but I must admit that I had some reservations at first.  I had not kept up with his work since seeing one of his older presentations a few years ago that contained some things I didn’t agree with.  However, I listened to my Inner Self that encouraged me to see where he is at now, and after a brief energetic check-in, I liked what I felt so we set up a phone call.

I am glad I listened because as it turns out, we are seeing a lot of things very similarly at this point in our respective journeys.  We don’t agree on everything, but that isn’t really necessary.  We both care more about Truth than anything else, and that is what matters most.

Ron Paul ~ A Republic, If You Can Recognize It

Over two hundred years ago the United States Constitution was written as a guide for America’s unique experiment in freedom. Today the free society that the Founders envisaged is barely identifiable.

America is no longer a bastion of freedom. Prevailing ideology, grounded in economic ignorance and careless disregard for individual liberty, is nurtured by a multitude of self-serving, power-seeking politicians spouting platitudes of compassion for the poor who are created by their own philosophy. Reelection is paramount in the minds of most of those who represent us, while freedom and constitutional restraint of power are considered old-fashioned and unwise.

Most people today fail to accept the obvious fact that government largesse can come only as a result of a systematic scheme of government theft.

The feeling of frustration prevalent in the country today is certainly understandable. Government is so big and the bureaucracy so cumbersome that the average person has little to say about his economic destiny unless he resorts to the underground economy. In a free society, of course, individual initiative and ability are the principal factors in determining one’s economic well-being.

Not surprisingly, half of the people don’t register to vote and less than half of those who do rarely vote. When permitted on the ballot, “None Of The Above” is the most attractive candidate. Something certainly has gone wrong. The role of government and the people’s attitude toward government have changed dramatically since 1787, with most of the changes occurring in the twentieth century. It appears that we are in the waning days of the American Republic.

Has America become known for lies? Our presidents lie about foreign affairs while secretly carrying out activities never approved by Congress. Scientists falsify records for career purposes. Wall Street is filled with stories of lies and scandals. Sadly, lying and deceit have become a way of life for many in America today.

Samuel Adams, at the time of the Constitutional Convention, accurately warned: “Neither the wisest constitution nor the wisest laws will secure the liberty and happiness of a people whose manners are universally corrupt.”

We certainly are blessed with a unique and inspired Constitution, probably the best in the history of man, despite its shortcomings. Yet today, two hundred-plus years since its ratification, the Constitution doesn’t restrain the pernicious and steady growth of government at the expense of personal liberty. Our manners are now corrupt.
