Andreas Toupadakis, Ph.D – Despite the fact that we live in a world of increasing violence in every walk of life, humans still have not lost hope; they talk about peace as they have done since the beginning of time. Some advocate peace by preparing for war; others advocate peace by preparing for peace.
I thought I could do peaceful work inside the United States’ nuclear labs, but I learned I was wrong. I realized that environmental and nuclear non-proliferation work was an illusion, and that purely academic projects are sustained to lure well-intentioned young scientists into weapons development programs. I also realized that if scientists stop developing the instruments of mass destruction, the government will be powerless to continue developing them. So I resigned from the nuclear labs, and chose instead to work for peace – and now I urge others to do the same.
We cannot deny the fact that the magnitude of death and sorrow from a violent act is proportional to the degree of technological sophistication employed in the act: Wars with spears in the past cannot compare with the electronic, atomic wars of today. In past wars, mostly soldiers would die, but today mostly civilians die. The technology separates and dehumanizes us from the actual act of killing. In the past, a soldier saw the expression on the face of his opponent as he died. Today, however, thousands of people can be vaporized instantly, while others can languish in pain for years, and future generations can be affected. But the person who launched the initial weapon will have seen nothing of this but some data on a computer screen. Continue reading “Glorifying Peace Instead Of War: Challenges And Solutions”
Adrienne Goff – We are currently in a powerful window of time, punctuated by eclipses and positioning each of us to step into a brand new personal reality. The solar eclipse and the spring equinox on March 20th could have instigated a major clearing process, causing certain chapters to end so that new ones can begin. On the horizon is a total lunar eclipse, happening the day before Easter on April 4th. Lunar eclipses are known to cause big shake-ups that produce startling realizations, major change, endings, and new beginnings. Since they coincide with the full moon, emotions are heightened and what is hidden in the subconscious comes up to be healed. The April 4th full moon is in Libra, which highlights cooperation, harmony, and balance in relationships. Some of our most important relationships might be tested at this time. Any issues that surface can cause either healing or an end to the relationship. This time period of eclipses encourages each of us to really tune into our inner knowing and to get crystal clear about any changes we need to make. Vesuvianite is the perfect stone to support us through it all.
Vesuvianite, also known as Idocrase, exudes a powerful yet smooth energy that feels like the loving and healing touch of the Divine Feminine. It can be yellow, yellow-green, pink, purple, red, brown, grey, or white; but it is most commonly seen in yellow-green and pinkish-purple. Vesuvianite helps you to tune in and to access your higher self. It assists you in hearing the inner voice of your heart and soul that is guiding you to your true mission. Meditation with Vesuvianite can show you what your greatest potential and calling is in this lifetime, and it can also reveal what is standing in your way in terms of subconscious thought patterns and beliefs, old emotions, or life circumstances that are blocking you.
Vesuvianite increases clairsentience, or the ability to feel energy, so you might be able to actually feel where these blockages are residing in your body. Once you get a sense of where the blockages are, you can place Vesuvianite over these areas to dissolve them on an energetic level, once and for all. The next step might require action on your part, such as doing work to heal or release a relationship, job, or role that is not aligned with your highest path. Vesuvianite helps you find the inner courage and strength needed to make necessary changes in your life. The eclipse time period will perfectly support this kind of transformative work. Gary Christenson – Two imaginary friends sent this defense of central banking and I pass it on for informational purposes only
Gary’s Satirical Take On Federal Reserve Policy – Enjoy
This defense of our modern financial system has been written in response to accusations that our current system benefits the political and financial elite at the expense of most others. The authors are:
Dr. Benjamin Crazy Bankster, PhD, and
Dr. Ima Crazy Keynesian, PhD
“We have read that “the fix is in” regarding our financial system. Of course this is not true. The following are perfectly normal examples of sanity and intelligence that conclusively demonstrate that our modern banking and financial system is fair, healthy, sensible, stable, and equitable for all. If you don’t fully understand these, it is likely that you are a person of average intelligence who does not comprehend the complexity of our modern system.
A recent partial audit confirmed that the Fed Reserve created at least $16 Trillion from “thin air” to support banks, major corporations, and foreign banks. Who would call this unfair or inappropriate?
Spain can borrow for 10 years at 1.15% interest. Of course!
Ben Bernanke in 2007: “…we believe the effect of the troubles in the subprime sector on the broader housing market will likely be limited.” (Limited to global disaster, massive loss of wealth, market crashes, and untold misery in Europe, the U.S. and Japan, but ‘limited.’) Continue reading “Crazy Is My Middle Name (Satire)”
Norma Gentile – There seemed to be much hoopla and fanfare around the solar eclipse that occurred near the March 20, 2015 equinox. But there is a lunar eclipse sneaking up on us on April 4, and I believe it is the more important of the two. While most people are not paying much attention to it, this next eclipse is surrounded by potent astrological alignments that open a three-week portal of time which can help us change direction in our lives.
Transforming painful life patterns
From time to time, due to astrological alignments, we have the opportunity to move difficult, intractable underlying life patterns into a cosmic stream not unlike the flow of water from a faucet. These next few weeks are one of those times.
My guides say it is like when you put your hand under a faucet with the water running; you can easily re-direct the stream of water with very little effort. The water is already in motion, and you are simply encouraging this motion to move forward or back, to the right, or left. Continue reading “Melting The Boulders Of Your Beliefs”
Andre Evans – A new study is attempting to measure the effects of toxic endocrine disrupting chemicals and understand their long term impact in the realms of finance, the environment, and personal health. What the researchers found was startling to say the least.
The study, published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, looked at the effects of endocrine disrupting chemicals in European countries and how the following health risks would translate into economic costs for those who become sick or disabled as a result.
“Global experts in this field concluded that infertility and male reproductive dysfunctions, birth defects, obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and neurobehavioral and learning disorders were among the conditions than can be attributed in part to exposure to endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs). The €157 billion estimate is conservative, and represents 1.23 percent of Europe’s gross domestic product (GDP). These costs may actually be as high as €270 billion ($359 billion), or 2% of GDP,” the study states.
Endocrine disruptors exist in a broad variety of products in today’s society. Most receipts, food packaging, plastic bottles, some money, lining inside of cans, and even toilet paper contain one or more of these types of chemicals that have adverse effects on the body and its ability to produce and regulate hormones. When a frozen package is thrown into a microwave or hot water, this also greatly increases the potency of these chemicals. The most dangerous of these, however, probably comes in the form of pesticides that are sprayed onto crops and eventually end up in the food and water supply. Lynn Griffith – Rice is a staple household food item for nearly half of the 7 billion people across the globe. (1) In the United States, rice is often shied away from due to its carbohydrate composition. The concern of weight gain associated with carbohydrates has become a first world concern for those who are dieting or suffering from certain chronic illnesses.
New method of cooking rice changes structure of starch in rice to lower calories and reduce glucose.
For those who would like to enjoy rice, there may be a new option! Scientists from the American Chemical Society have developed a simple new way of cooking rice that cuts the calories in half! This may potentially help reduce obesity rates and help control blood sugar. (2,3)
Obesity continues to be a major health concern. As people have become more sedentary, their diets also need to change. Addressing serving sizes and food options is one way to do this. As a whole, it appears that we are consuming more fats and sugars than ever before and addictions to carbohydrates continue to grow. One cup of rice averages about 240 calories and when pairing that with your favorite side from your favorite restaurant, the calories escalate exponentially. (2,3)
“Because obesity is a growing health problem, especially in many developing countries, we wanted to find food-based solutions,” says team leader Sudhair A. James. “We discovered that increasing rice resistant starch (RS) concentrations was a novel way to approach the problem.” By using a specific heating and cooking regimen, the scientists concluded that “if the best rice variety is processed, it might reduce the calories by about 50-60 percent.” (2,3)
