WWE 2K20 is the upcoming WWE game currently under development by Visual Concepts. It’s to be published by 2K Sports and is scheduled for release worldwide on October 22, 2019. Operating systems include Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
It is the 21st game in the WWE game series and 7th under the WWE 2K banner. Special additions have been made and WWE claims this game is the best produced thus far.
Superstars from the current WWE Raw and WWE SmackDown rosters, WWE legends and Hall of Famers will be present in the game. According to the official WWE news sources, the top superstars of NXT will also be included in the game.
The cover of WWE 2K20 features WWE superstars Becky Lynch from WWE Raw, and Roman Reigns from WWE SmackDown. This is for the first time that a WWE game under the 2K series has featured a female superstar as the cover star. WWE 2K20 is also the first game in the series to be solely developed by Visual Concepts; the previous games were co-developed by Yuke’s.
The WWE 2K20 Collectors’ edition is released in honor of the 20th anniversary of SmackDown, ‘The WWE 2K20 SmackDown! 20th Anniversary Edition.’
According to the official website of WWE 2K, the special edition will include:
♦ a copy of WWE 2K20 game with the Collectors’ edition packaging,
♦ an exclusive acrylic piece featuring a piece of WWE SmackDown ring skirt (2002-2008),
♦ a collectible acrylic piece containing 1 of 3 possible WWE SmackDown legend autographs (Kurt Angle, Rey Mysterio or Edge),
♦ the SmackDown 20th Anniversary edition Digital Content (featuring Hulk Hogan, Chyna, $500 Shirt The Rock, The Rock ‘n’ Sock Connection, Mankind),
♦ a pre-order bonus pack Bump in the Night featuring “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt, WWE 2K20 Accelerator,
♦ WWE 2K20 MyPLAYER Kickstart,
♦ WWE SuperCard Limited Edition Cards featuring The Rock, Mankind, Roman Reigns and Becky Lynch (included with the physical edition only).
The collectors’ edition features Chyna, who was last featured in WWF SmackDown! 2: Know Your Role and also Hulk Hogan, who was last featured in WWE 2K15.
Four DLC packs entitled “WWE 2K Originals” will be included, which will show a “fictional realm” with themed content. According to the official website of WWE 2K, each pack of the WWE 2K Originals will be present with its own unique theme and content, including a new Showcase Episode featuring new arenas, Superstars, Story Towers, unlockable character parts, arenas and more. The first pack, the “Bump in the Night” will revolve around “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt.
The 2K ShowCase will revolve around The Four Horsewomen and The Women’s Evolution in WWE. This will include in-depth documentary-style vignettes, cutscenes, and objective-based gameplay. The MyCareer mode will contain both male and female MyCareer stories. This will be for the first time in the game’s franchise that a female MyCareer story will be featured alongside the male MyCareer story. The highly popular 2K Towers mode from WWE 2K19 will be returning with exciting new challenges, including a story-driven Tower centered around the career of Roman Reigns.
The formal announcement of the game took place on August 5, 2019, and a trailer announced that Becky Lynch and Roman Reigns would be the cover stars for WWE 2K20.
