Be Inspired To Speak In Public And Share Your Voice

There are so many people in the world who have an inspiring story to share but never do so because they fear speaking in public. So many of us worry about what otheBe Inspired To Speak In Public And Share Your Voicers will think or say and so we bite our tongue and play small because we are not willing to step up into our bigger selves so that we may speak our truth.

Sadly, so many ideas and innovations are not shared or heard because individuals give into their fears. However in this day and age where so much change and turmoil is going on, now more than ever we need positive people to step up and find your purpose beyond fear.

What is public speaking?

Public speaking is basically the act of speaking in front of a group of audience in public. There may be different ideas of imposing public speaking. It can be to propose influence upon your audience, share certain experiences or a speech.

As we all know, public speaking is not a very easy task. It may be an easy job for certain individuals but it is also difficult for others. Thinking about speaking in front of an audience is not exactly similar to speaking in front of an audience. This is probably where people experience anxiety, disoriented thought and even weird feeling in your stomach, like butterflies are in there. Here are a few tips on overcoming your fear so you can share your voice with the world.

1. Preparing yourself

There are a few preparations that you need before you perform your speech to keep you calm and prepared. Sometimes, the audience may not be as friendly as you visualized, so you will need to keep yourself prepared for situations like that.

Inspirational keynote speaker Dan Smith says, “First, build up a positive mindset. Tell yourself that 99% of the problems that you have been worrying will not happen. You cannot guarantee that nothing will happen throughout your speech. Therefore, leave the 1% to the chances of wrecking your speech or presentation.”

Nonetheless, maintain a positive mindset. Such examples can be: “They will like what I am sharing with them.”; “I am prepared for my presentation.” or “My presentation will be useful to them.” Avoid negative thoughts like “I am not prepared.”; “I don’t think they like Me.” or “I don’t think I can do this presentation!” Thoughts like these will only upset you and create more anxiety.

Using the power of positive affirmations can be very helpful because you can train your mind to overcome negative thinking by repeating these mantras over and over again.

2. Prepare your presentation

Second, prepare your presentation well. Write your pointers or notes on palm-sized cards for reference during the presentation. Keep the words on your cards legible. You would not want to risk the chance of missing out or misinterpreting certain important points. A point to note, do not memorize every single word from your notes. If you happen to forget your “scripts”, you will probably start to fluster on stage.

“The worst thing you can do is try and memorize your entire speech word for word” says motivational keynote speaker John Rogan. “The goal is to formulate an outline and flow that you like and then use bullet points or slides to keep you on your path. At the end of the day, you should speak from the heart.”

3. Practice your speech

Third, practice your speech. You can practice your speech by facing a mirror to see how you look when you speak or get a friend to help you evaluate your speech and presentation skills. When you receive comments from people, you will know where you performed badly or which your strengths in public speaking are. In addition, ensure that you make appropriate pauses between your speeches. A fast-paced speech would be inaudible. In that case, it raises the audiences’ queries to your presentation.

4. Focus on what you know best

Fourth, emphasize on points that you are familiar with. This helps to boost up your confidence as you know more about what you are presenting and it eventually helps to calm you down.

Apart from the above four points, you may want to engage in small interactions with your audience. Small interactions can help to reduce tension in the surrounding and, even better, put some live to the whole presentation.

So what is there to worry about? Start practicing on your speeches! As the usual saying goes, “Practice makes perfect”. The more public speaking you do, the more you will get comfortable to it!

Don’t let your song go unheard. The world needs more positive people who are willing to inspire and motivate us to become our best selves.
