Arjun Walia – As you’ve probably heard, three explosions recently hit Brussels, one at Zaventem airport and another approximately one hour later on the subway right next to the European Union headquarters. 26 people lost their lives, and many others were injured.

According to TIME, Belgian Federal Prosecutor Frederic Van Leeuw called all three explosions ‘terrorist’ attacks, and as a result Brussels has gone on complete lockdown, closing the airport, metro stations, international train services, and more; residents were told to remain at home or at their place of work for the day.

The blasts at the airport occurred at approximately 8am, and, according to Van Leeuw, it has been confirmed that one of them was carried out by a suicide bomber in the departure hall. It is believed that there were shouts in Arabic and gunshots right before the bombs exploded. Belgian Health Minister Maggie De-Block reports that 11 people were killed and 81 injured.

Here is a witness account from the airport:

I was sleeping and I was woken up by people screaming and running. I just followed the crowd. People came running down the stairs. People left their luggage and kept running. We were given no information in the terminal. 

At the subway (Maelbeek) station, the blast hit at around 9:10 am, killing “about 20,” according to Brussels Mayor Yvan Mayeur, and injuring over 100 people.

Another witness offers these observations:

The metro was leaving Maelbeek station when there was a really loud explosion. It was panic everywhere. There were a lot of people in the metro.

Belgium is now sending 225 extra troops to Brussels following the explosion; coupled with the recent attacks in Paris, this part of Europe is beginning to look highly militarized indeed, particularly after President Hollande’s proclamation that “France is at war” — a move reminiscent of George Bush’s announcements after 9/11. Many people believe these attacks justify a heightened global national security state, even if it means we must increasingly lose our rights in order to achieve it, others say this justification for a heightened national global security state is simply part of the plan toward a new world order.

Was ISIS Behind The Brussels Attacks?

As with any other tragic event, news of the attacks has been blasted out on numerous mainstream media outlets, all of which are drawing at least some connection to Islam. For example, CNN writes:

Belgium is no stranger to terror. Just a few days ago, authorities there captured Europe’s most wanted man, Salah Abdeslam — the latest of many suspected terrorists caught in the small European country. And a U.S. counterterrorism official said, “The Belgians have been sitting on a ticking time bomb,” given all those who have gone to Syria and Iraq to join ISIS, then possibly come back home.

They even wrote this piece on how Belgium is a hotbed of ‘jihadist ideology.’

As mentioned above, shouts in Arabic and the sound of gunshots right before the bombs exploded have also been reported.

A recent clip posted online by Anonymous issued a threat to Islamic State militants for following deadly attacks in Brussels. An Islamic State flag and bomb were also found at a house in a Brussels district during a search conducted by Belgian prosecutors.

According the the University of Ottawa’s Professor Michel Chossudovsky,

Prior to the conduct of a police investigation, in the hours following the attacks, the Western media went into overdrive, intimating without evidence that the Islamic State (ISIS) operating out of Raqqa, Northern Syria was responsible for the attacks. (source)

According to the independent, “ISIS supporters have been celebrating the Brussels attacks online (social media) as speculation mounts that the group is behind a wave of deadly attacks in the Belgian capital.” (source)

Although ISIS supporters claim responsibility for the Brussels attacks, the terrorist group did not release a claim through its official channels, despite the fact that mainstream media is already hinting at it.

The Wall Street Journal flat out stated that,

Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attacks at the Brussels airport and on a subway train, starkly demonstrating the ability of the extremist network to direct or inspire deadly assaults in Europe, even as it suffers heavy setbacks from U.S. – led military strikes in its heartlands of Syria and Iraq…A U.S. official said the attacks appeared to be an attempt by Islamic State operatives (source)

According to the Jerusalem Post,

The “tears of joy” that were shed by ISIS supporters on Twitter are also related to the fact that terrorists succeeded in paralyzing the activity in the airport attacked. One of ISIS’ main declared goals is to devastate the Western economy and replace the dollar with its own coin as the only international legal tenter. (source)

Islamaphobia

Why is it that every single ‘terrorist attack,’ which seem to be happening on a regular basis now, is tied to Islam in some way? Witnesses may have heard screaming in Arabic, though there is as yet no way to confirm this, but the constant connection between Islam and terrorism in the mainstream media seems to be becoming ridiculous. You’ll most likely never see a piece about a terrorist attack without some mention of Islam or something that relates to it. The so called “Islamic State” really has nothing to do with Islam, and, in my opinion, is no doubt a creation of the western military alliance.

This ‘Islamaphobia’ has spread its wings across the globe, exemplified perfectly in the case of a Texan teenager named Ahmad Mohamed who was arrested and released with no charges after teachers at his school thought a clock that he made resembled a bomb. You can read more about that here.

Making the connection between terrorism and Islam seems to have become second nature to many people; it is the first conclusion they jump to rather than the last, yet there is so much evidence against this view. Is this hatred and fear being used as a tool to separate us? Is there an attempt to create a global divide, and spark conflict between religions? Is this being capitalized to justify the unnecessary invasion of other countries?

Who knows, the point is, regardless of who you think committed these crimes, muslims as a whole are going to feel the hate. The amount that mainstream media has equated ‘terrorist’ with Islam is, again, quite ridiculous, and it’s not fair to point a finger at a person just because they are muslim.

This is truly an unnecessary fear, and perhaps an opportunity for one to rise above all of this fear propaganda and embrace your fellow human being. If you see an injustice happening to someone who is muslim, or anyone for that matter, voice your concern and help out. Just because your television is telling you that terrorists are product of muslim society, does not mean you have to discriminate. Perhaps this is a time to show a little empathy, instead of hate, to show a little understanding, instead of instantly pointing your finger.

If ISIS Was Indeed Behind The Attacks, Who Is Behind ISIS? (Something To Think About)

A year ago on March 20th, 137 people were killed from terrorist activity in Yemen, yet no mainstream media headlines. A few days before that, 33 were killed in Afghanistan, the list is very large and goes and and on. Why is it that only certain terrorist attacks are picked up on and covered in depth by western mainstream media?  Something to think about.

Another thing to think about is the fact that the recent release of the Hilary Clinton email archive as well as leaked Pentagon documents confirm that the US and its allies were supportive of ISIS, which according to various press reports, are the alleged terrorists behind the Brussels attacks.

The 7-page Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) document dated August of 2012, points to US complicity in supporting the creation of an Islamic State.

It’s important to contemplate whether these constant attacks, especially overseas, are a result of incompetence by the US Air Force, or Washington’s complicity in protecting the terrorists.

These questions have been asked ever since the terror war industry began. Take 9/11 for example, where Al Qaeda was accused to be behind the attacks, which provided a justification for waging a war against Afghanistan on the grounds that Afghanistan was a state sponser of terrorism, supportive of AL Qaeda. The 9/11 attacks were instrumental in the formulation of the “Global War on Terrorism.” This is important to note because the so called Islamic State (ISIL) was originally an Al Qaeda affiliated entity created by United States Intelligence with the support of Britians M16, Israel’s Mossad, Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Saudi Arabia’s General Intelligence Presidency (GIP).

Again, these thoughts have been circulating around politics for decades,

But, there is a propaganda campaign to make the public believe in the presence of an intensified entity representing the ‘devil’ only in order to drive TV watchers to accept a unified international leadership for a war against terrorism. The country behind this propaganda is the United States.” – Former British Foreign Secretary, Robin Cook

Even Vladimir Putin, president of Russia, stated that ISIS is being funded by 40 countries at the G20 summit. You can read more about that here.

I will leave you with these words from Professor Michel Chossudovsky, spoken at the International Conference on the New World Order, which was organized and sponsored by the Perdana Global Peace Foundation.

It tells us that somehow America and the Western world are going after a fictitious enemy, the Islamic state, when in fact the Islamic state is fully supported and financed by the Western military alliance and America’s allies in the Persian Gulf. … They say Muslims are terrorists, but it just so happens that terrorists are Made in America.
