Carol Ciocco –  On January 25, 2008 – 8 years ago tomorrow – the planet Pluto (which had been re-classified a dwarf planet in 2006) entered the sign of Capricorn in the tropical zodiac.

This was a humongous shift, one of the biggest turning points of our time. We astrologers knew it was coming. As the 16-year Pluto in Capricorn era began, we knew that unprecedented massive societal changes to all of the world’s structured organizations/institutions – esp corporations and government – was on its way. Like a freight train.

As expected, government is now nearly completely owned by corporations – here in the US we now live in a Plutocratic Corporatocracy. At the same time, corruption in institutions is being dredged up like sewage, as the dark and ugly aspects our societal structures are exposed – mostly through independent internet-based independent media.

Of course, this macrocosmic darkness is only a reflection of our inner ‘shadow side’, and is a systemic manifestation of it. When we look out at society, we are looking at a mirror of our fear-based aspects, and our lack of love for ourselves. This means one basic and all-important thing: we can change it because we can choose to change ourselves.

Within months of Pluto entering Capricorn, the massive Bear-Stearns global investment bank collapsed due to Wall Street’s casino-gambling of the people’s money in a heartless game of trading worthless assets. A global Ponzi Scheme.

Despite Bear-Stearns tumbling down, a clearly ominous sign, the financial world continued business as usual (and the key players withdrew their funds from markets, knowing what was going to happen & preserving their own wealth).

Then in September 2008, Lehman Brothers, a global financial services firm, bore the brunt of the end-game – collapsing like a house of cards on September 15, 2008 and triggering a global market crash. The stock market lost 777 points (interesting number) in a matter of hours. Many people, ordinary people of Main Street, lost their entire savings and retirement funds. The too-big-to-fail banks which remained standing (Goldman-Sachs, for instance) were bailed out – by regular folks/taxpayers.

And so the Pluto in Capricorn era began – BOOM! As a result, the new mandate for all institutions on earth is powerfully: proclaimed: corruption and hidden nefarious deeds can hide no longer. Time to clean up our acts.

Pluto will remain in Capricorn for another 8 years, so we are halfway through the transit. Our systems will continue to be rolfed by the Lord of Authenticity (Nothing inauthentic will stand under this transit). By 2024 we may have an entirely new economic system. Or we may have worldwide economic collapse and the resulting human suffering. It is, of course, up to us.

At this half-way mark, we can look back and see a true Plutonic paradigm shift, which has altered how any Pluto transit expresses – both personally and collectively.

Our vision of Pluto is now completely overturned, replaced with laser-clarity. This is because the NASA spacecraft New Horizons reached Pluto last year, on July 14, 2015. Pictures were beamed back to earth and, for the first time in human history, earthlings gazed upon Pluto, up-close. (Our previous pictures were blurry and distant.) Our relationship with Pluto (our dark side) will never be the same.

Then, only 5 days ago, just days before tomorrow’s mid-point of Pluto’s plowing through our structured reality in Capricorn, a new planet was detected. They are calling it Planet 9 – it perhaps will replace Pluto as the 9th planet. Exclamation point!

This is quite fascinating:

— Pluto’s power (the darkest expression of the human shadow side) was ‘demoted’ in 2006,

— Then 9 years later its beauty was shown to us with exquisite clarityin real life, so we might get to know it more intimately and revise our own expression of its qualities,

— Then within the past week it is replaced by something new and yet unknown, Planet 9.

I think these are good signs that we ARE changing as Pluto changes society during its sojourn through Capricorn.

What will we co-create over the next 8 years? Will we surpass our current obsolete monetary system? Keep in mind that this system is based on money as-a-worthless-piece-of-paper, not backed by anything real, fundamentally damaging to earth and to humans, and built on taxes, debt and the untruth of scarcity. Will we root out corrupt government leaders/practices and restore democracy?

Here’s a hint: the last time Pluto was in Capricorn, the American Revolution.happened.

P.S. Maybe by the time Pluto leaves Capricorn in 2024 we will have an image of the mysterious Planet 9.
