Effective Natural Solutions For Your Teeth And Gums

Studies Prove Effectiveness of Holistic Treatments for Teeth

Dr. Michelle Kmiec – Today we have toothbrushes that vibrate, circulate, or some combination of both, and of course there is the regular ol’ toothbrush that requires a little more hand and wrist action on our part. There are water picks, toothpicks, plaque scrapers, tongue brushes, dental floss and dental tape. There are numerous varieties of toothpaste and mouthwash, and even dental gum that you can chew between brushing sessions. And let’s not forget all of the different types of teeth whitening products!

As a means to prevent tooth decay, many dentists recommend a fluoride treatment twice per year. Fluoride is also added to many of these dental care products, as well as to most public water systems. However, in 2010 the CDC reported that dental fluorosis, a serious condition caused by too much fluoride, is on the increase in the United States.

According to this report, the “prevalence of dental fluorosis was higher among younger persons and ranged from 41% among adolescents aged 12-15 to 9% among adults aged 40-49.” In 1986-87, 22.6% of adolescents had dental fluorosis, compared to 40.7% in 1999-2005. This is quite an increase! As a result, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services planned on lowering the amount of fluoride allowed in public water systems, but as of 2014 had yet to do so.

(It is interesting to note that, while fluoride is added to water supplies for the purpose of therapeutic consumption, no recommended water/fluoride dosage has ever been prescribed by health authorities ~ Editor.) Continue reading

Skeletal Fluorosis: What Could Fluoride Be Doing to Us?

Natural Society | August 26 2012

Skeletal fluorosis is at endemic levels in at least 25 countries around the world. In the two countries where it is most prevalent – China and India – it affects 2.7 million and 6 million people respectively. But what is fluorosis, how can it be prevented, and are we at risk?

Fluoride Ingestion and Skeletal Fluorosis

Skeletal fluorosis occurs when too much fluoride builds up in the body. In China and India, for example, the high levels of skeletal fluorosis are believed to come from drinking water as well as inhaling coal being used as an indoor fuel source.

It is a debilitating disease, especially in latter stages. While in the beginning, the achy joints and stiffness may resemble arthritis, advanced fluorosis causes severe deformities as the ligaments of the neck and vertebrae calcify (harden), muscle tissue wastes away, and movement becomes more and more limited.

Scientific surveys indicate that any water supply containing more than 1 ppm of fluoride to be a risk for skeletal fluorosis. In the United States, 1 ppm is the average amount of fluoride being purposefully added to drinking water. But in addition to consuming fluoride through drinking water, it is also heavily absorbed in hot showers, and can be found in food at 180x the amount in drinking water.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has set the “maximum containment level” at 4 ppm. This simply means that anything up to 4 ppm is of no concern to the U.S. government.

New Hampshire Passes First State-Wide Fluoride Warning Law

theintelhub.com | June 21 2012

Centers for Disease Control and PreventionI would love to see fluoride flat out banned from being added to the public’s water but nonetheless, this is a step in the right direction.

On the back of most sheeples toothpaste already exists a warning label. Somehow the same rules do not apply when the government indiscriminately doses people.

If you are an autodidact like myself, you probably already know of the long list of dangers associated with fluoride. If you do not yet know of the aforementioned list, The Fluoride Action Network has many great sources.

The flowing exert provides more information on the New Hampshire Law:

Beginning August 4, 2012, New Hampshire will require notification that 6-month-olds should not be routinely fed infant formula mixed with fluoridated water to avoid discoloring babies’ unerupted teeth (fluorosis), reports the Fluoride Action Network (FAN).

Passed by the House, 253-23, unanimously by the Senate, and signed by the Governor, HB-1416 reads: “If a public water supply is fluoridated, the following notice shall be posted in the water system’s consumer confidence report: ‘Your public water supply is fluoridated. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, if your child under the age of 6 months is exclusively consuming infant formula reconstituted with fluoridated water, there may be an increased chance of dental fluorosis. Consult your child’s health care provider for more information.’” The bill was introduced by Rep. Anne Cartwright (R-Alstead), and had four co-sponsors. Source: PRNewswire
