Progressive View Rejects Zuckerberg’s ‘Metaverse’

MetaverseTom Valovic – When I heard that Facebook had changed its name to Meta, I was reminded of the aphorism: “A leopard doesn’t change its spots.” But in this case, there’s more to the name change than meets the eye: a strategic “vision” of the future and an overly powerful, profit-hungry corporation’s misguided attempt to shape human destiny.

Facebook’s new moniker is shorthand for metaverse, a major new technology and culture shift that Big Tech is trying to force feed anyone who uses the Internet. And in the words of a friend who works for another Big Tech giant, this new direction is “terrifying.” Continue reading

Metaverse: Blurring The Lines Of Reality

The Metaverse is coming…It just needed 5G’

Leo Hohmann – Welcome to the ‘metaverse’: A strange new world where the same billionaire globalist elites who destroyed the lives of millions using a pandemic as their main battering ram, will  now try to entice them into a fake utopia created by AI and computer algorithms.

Facebook announced this week it is changing its name to “Meta” and while that might sound like just another corporate rebranding worthy of a yawn, it’s anything but, says Patrick Wood, an expert on technocracy and transhumanism. Continue reading

Tech-Terrorism

googleBrooks Agnew – Former United States President Barack Obama is denouncing conservative media as “the single biggest threat to our democracy.” In his most recent effort to increase governmental control over news and technology companies, Mr. Obama contended that Facebook, Twitter and other media platforms needed to use stronger censorship to stop conservatives from spreading “crazy lies and conspiracy theories.”

“The First Amendment doesn’t require private companies to provide a platform for any view that is out there,” Mr. Obama told the Atlantic on Nov. 11, 2020. “At the end of the day, we’re going to have to find a combination of government regulations and corporate practices that address this, because it’s going to get worse. … If we do not have the capacity to distinguish what’s true from what’s false, then by definition the marketplace of ideas doesn’t work. And by definition our democracy doesn’t work.” Continue reading

Schrödinger’s Cat And Leftist Fact Checkers

fact checkersP.F. Whalen – Aficionados of the CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory may recall an episode from early in the series in which one of the main characters, Leonard, struggles in his effort to assess his budding romance with another primary character, Penny.

Leonard eventually decides to use the famous thought experiment of Austrian-Irish physicist Erwin Schrödinger — commonly known as “Schrödinger’s Cat” — to explain the paradox created when particles interact and the “wave function” created by the interaction has not yet collapsed into reality. According to Schrodinger, the cat could be both alive and dead at while the experiment was being conducted, its actual state not revealed until the experiment was concluded. Continue reading

Why I Left Facebook

facebookMark Couhig – Like millions of Americans, I have in recent days grown sick of Facebook. Like hundreds of thousands, I’ve abandoned it for Parler.

When I said goodbye to my friends on Facebook, they were all kind. Many said they’d miss me, and others offered advice. One told me she had glanced into Parler and had found it horrifying. But, she said, she was sure I had done my due diligence before signing on.

Indeed I had. Parler allows you to choose whose words you read and whose memes you chuckle at. I’m not a fan of outlandish conspiracy theories so I don’t keep up with the Joneses — Alex or Mother. I enjoy reading intelligent articles from all sides, so I follow the American Thinker and National Review on Parler. I’m a libertarian, so on Parler I also follow Reason and the Cato Institute. Because they haven’t yet signed on to Parler, I subscribed to the New Republic and Harpers. I don’t want to be trapped in a bubble of anyone’s making. Continue reading
