Fluoride Toxicity No Longer A ‘Conspiracy Theory’

“Perhaps, with the release of the Lancet report, the “conspiracy theory” response to those pointing out the dangers of water fluoridation can finally be dropped and a concerted movement to end the poisoning of our water supplies will take root and flourish.” ~A Dilks

fluorideIt’s often amazing how many people still view the dangers posed to health from fluoride in the water supply as nothing more than a “conspiracy theory” – dismissed as a notion unsupported by any solid evidence, they demand peer reviewed studies before even contemplating the veracity of the claim. Anything else, they say, is unsupported pseudoscience. It probably doesn’t help matters that Wikipedia – that hugely flawed yet oft cited source of information on the internet which so many tend to appeal to – peddles misinformation which clearly creates a misconception as to the adverse effects. Its page discussing fluoride toxicity is revealing, stating that “the only generally accepted adverse effect of fluoride at levels used for water fluoridation is dental fluorosis, which can alter the appearance of children’s teeth during tooth development; this is mostly mild and usually only an aesthetic concern.”

With a sizable number of people satisfied with this unfounded reassurance, little further research is conducted, reflecting the lazy manner in which some people are willing to take things at face value, regardless of the high stakes. After all, if they were to take the issue seriously enough to thoroughly check the evidence for themselves they would find themselves dragged kicking and screaming from their comfort zones, forced to question the veracity of widely held “truths” built on lies and deceptions. The Fattening Of America – Is Water Fluoridation To Blame?

NaturalNews  July 29 2013

As more information comes to light about fluoride poisoning across the country, connections between the chemical and weight gain are garnering attention. A known suppressor of the thyroid gland, fluoride is a major player in the rampant increase of obesity. But the toxicity of fluoride is subtle and can also manifest as creeping additional weight that is nearly impossible to shed. One aspect is certain: If we desire a slim and healthy body, getting a handle on fluoride exposure is crucial.

Unexplained weight gain and poor health linked with depressed thyroid

If you find yourself struggling with unexplained weight gain, fatigue, depression and general malaise, a malfunctioning thyroid may be the cause. According to “Fluoride Poisoning – It’s All Over,” German and Austrian researchers discovered in the 1930s that an overactive thyroid could be treated by bathing in fluorinated water – illustrating the powerful suppressive effect it has on the gland. For those who have a normal or low functioning thyroid, exposure to fluoride is a disaster for health. The article continues with a laundry list of staggering consequences:

“Deliberately damaging the thyroid will produce a plethora of symptoms affecting the entire human body from head to toe. Symptoms of thyroid damage and fluoride poisoning include weight gain, edema, kidney disease, kidney failure, hair loss, depression, aggression, aches, pains, skin problems, bone deformities (likely including “arthritis” and spontaneous fractures), sexual/erectile dysfunction, memory loss, weakness, fatigue, heart disease, irritability, cancer, digestive disorders including severe GERD as a result of swallowing fluoride, nausea, vomiting, visual problems, gum disease, “high cholesterol,” connective tissue damage, brittle teeth, wrinkles, premature aging, dehydration, and long, long after the whole body has been damaged, “cosmetic fluorosis” might finally show up in a tooth or two.”

Skeletal Fluorosis: What Could Fluoride Be Doing to Us?

Natural Society | August 26 2012

Skeletal fluorosis is at endemic levels in at least 25 countries around the world. In the two countries where it is most prevalent – China and India – it affects 2.7 million and 6 million people respectively. But what is fluorosis, how can it be prevented, and are we at risk?

Fluoride Ingestion and Skeletal Fluorosis

Skeletal fluorosis occurs when too much fluoride builds up in the body. In China and India, for example, the high levels of skeletal fluorosis are believed to come from drinking water as well as inhaling coal being used as an indoor fuel source.

It is a debilitating disease, especially in latter stages. While in the beginning, the achy joints and stiffness may resemble arthritis, advanced fluorosis causes severe deformities as the ligaments of the neck and vertebrae calcify (harden), muscle tissue wastes away, and movement becomes more and more limited.

Scientific surveys indicate that any water supply containing more than 1 ppm of fluoride to be a risk for skeletal fluorosis. In the United States, 1 ppm is the average amount of fluoride being purposefully added to drinking water. But in addition to consuming fluoride through drinking water, it is also heavily absorbed in hot showers, and can be found in food at 180x the amount in drinking water.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has set the “maximum containment level” at 4 ppm. This simply means that anything up to 4 ppm is of no concern to the U.S. government.
