The REAL Hastert Scandal: Pedophilia, Drug Money and Blackmail [Video + Transcript]

googleJames Corbett – The scandal that recently enveloped speaker of the house Dennis Hastert, downplayed as a decades-old story, has already disappeared from the headlines. But a series of revelations from FBI whistleblowers reveal that this story is just the tip of a very seedy iceberg, one that implicates Hastert, his top aide, other Congress members and government officials in a criminal network involved in sexual intrigue, foreign espionage, blackmail, and drug money.

Transcript – In May of this year a federal grand jury indicted former Speaker of the House John Dennis Hastert. The charges: that he had “structured” withdrawals of over $950,000 from various bank accounts to skirt bank reporting laws and that he had lied to federal agents about these withdrawals. According to the indictment the withdrawals were part of a bid to pay $3.5 million in blackmail to cover up “past misconduct” from his time as a high school teacher in Illinois. Continue reading

Virginia: When Identity Groups Collide

VirginiaClarice Feldman – For decades, lacking a coherent and acceptable broad-based platform, the Democrats have cobbled together their victories by playing the identity politics game. Reaching out to different groups, playing on their sense of victimization and oppression, dissolving the very bonds of civic cohesion, and pretending to a savior role for each group. Of course, if people thought about it, no one is less oppressed than a modern-day American, and the special interests and pleadings of these disparate groups often collide and conflict, but that seemingly passes beyond their ken or notice.

This week, in contrast to the unifying State of the Union address by the President which was coherent, consistent, and uplifting, the three top officials in Virginia — all Democrats — are engaged in a bloody battle which looks to disunite the Democratic women from the black voters of the state. It’s not helping the media either, especially not the Washington Post, owned by Jeff Bezos himself, embroiled in a marital scandal and fight with David Pecker, the owner of the National Enquirer. (Who can beat the NY Post’s front page on Friday “Bezos Exposes Pecker”?) Continue reading

Hillary Clinton Delivers First Major Campaign Speech Amid Trust Drop

clintonRT News – Hillary Clinton, the frontrunner in the 2016 Democratic presidential primaries, has held the first major rally of her campaign on Saturday, vowing to make the economy work for every American.

“America can’t succeed unless you succeed, that is why I am running for president of the United States,” she told a cheering crowd at New York City’s Roosevelt Island.

“Prosperity just can’t be for CEOs and hedge fund managers. Democracy can’t be just for billionaires… Prosperity and democracy are part of your basic bargain, too.”

As Hillary Clinton hits the campaign road, it is people’s trust – or rather the lack thereof – that is her major roadblock, as polls show most Americans don’t see her as honest and trustworthy.

What’s up with Clinton’s ratings?

The former secretary of state will have to do an outstanding job to get the votes. However, her unfavorable ratings have plummeted to a 7-year low, according to a Washington Post-ABC poll. Now more Americans have an unfavorable view of her than a favorable one.

Yet a more salient metric than favorability may be trustworthiness. According to a CNN/ORC poll last week, 57 percent of Americans think Clinton isn’t honest and trustworthy, up from 49 percent in March.

Allegations of corruption have raised serious doubts about her suitability.
