20 Ways Sitting In Silence Can Transform Your Life

The less you see and hear, the more settled your mind can become. For over two years I spent one out of every four weeks in silence. At the time I was living at a Zen Monastery and every month we would have a week-long silent retreat.

During this retreat we sat meditation in silence, ate in silence, worked in silence, and only communicated through hand gestures and written notes.

At first living like this was hard, but over time I learned to grow to appreciate silence. By the time I left I learned that silence was my friend and teacher.

What did silence teach me? Continue reading

Download Info From The Field Through Inner Silence

“My brain is only a receiver, in the Universe there is a core from which we obtain knowledge, strength and inspiration. I have not penetrated into the secrets of this core, but I know that it exists.” Nikola Tesla

Brandon West –  Inner silence is the key to penetrating this core of knowledge in the universe.

Human beings are like onions. We have layers which are mental/emotional energetic layers within us with obscure our genuine self. As children and babies we have no layers. We are pure and unadulterated infinite consciousness. Then as we are filled with information over time, this clutters  our mind and we lose awareness of our inner truth and our natural ability of processing energy (emotional processing) is diminished or halted altogether and we start to form layers and layers of ego. Message for September 2021

silenceSarah-Jane Grace – I’ve long been a seeker of silence. Seeking out opportunities to embrace the silent moments and to immerse myself in the stillness that silence can bring. We live in a busy, noisy, distraction fuelled world which can make it so hard to even notice the silence, but it’s always there. It’s often the case that we need to pause and breathe deeply in order to re-connect, but it’s important to realize that silence never leaves us, it’s usually a case that we shut ourselves off from the silence.

Silence isn’t just the absence of sound, far from it. Silence is the stillness that can be found in between moments and in those gaps between the in breath and the out breath, at the point where we are doing neither one nor the other. Silence is the space where true wisdom can be found, it can bring us insight and a deeper sense of understanding as to why things are the way they are. We may not find all the answers in silence, but we can find a stronger sense of acceptance to the inherently unknowable nature of life. Continue reading

Science Says Silence Is Vital For Our Brains

silenceJoe Martino – If you’re the average person, you wake up to the sound of an alarm. That alarm sends you to the bathroom where you quickly get yourself ready for your workday. If you have the time, you might eat something before jumping into your car to listen to music or the radio while you sit in traffic on your way to work.

Once you get there, it’s all people, customers, co-workers, cars, trucks, planes, lawn mowers, construction, phone calls, and tasks for the next 8 hours. These noises that most of us experience in excess send our bodies into stress states, decreasing our quality of life and potentially reducing our lifespan. It appears that noise, in excess, is not healthy for humans. Silence, on the other hand, can have huge benefits, but let’s explore the damage caused by noise before we get to the benefits of silence. What Happens To Our Brain When We Experience Complete Silence & Peace Of Mind

“Silence And Space In Nature” – photographer Katja

Alanna Ketler – Silence. How often do you truly get to experience this? Nowadays, silence is a very rare commodity indeed as we are constantly bombarded with noises from people, traffic, airplanes, music, advertisements, construction and the list goes on. I’ve been thinking a lot about silence and how much I would like some as I’ve been travelling and am constantly subjected to honking cars, screaming tourists, and clanking sounds all around me. Silence, is actually not something that is very easily obtainable -silence is golden. So how important is silence and is it a detriment to the well-being of our minds if we don’t have it?

In 2011, the Finnish Tourist Board ran a campaign that actually used silence as a marketing product. Their campaign aimed to entice people to visit Finland to experience the beauty of the silent land. The campaign released a series of photos of single figures in nature along with the headline, “Silence, Please.” Another tagline was added by Simon Ahnolt, an international country branding consultant that said, “No talking, but action.” Continue reading
