Remember The Power Of The Voice

power of voiceWe take our ability to speak for granted every day, perfecting our misuse of a tool with the power to transform our world.

Each of us came here to stand for something; we came with a message to share–a song to sing. But the voice is a terribly wounded channel. We learned from a very young age that expressing ourselves was something to be controlled and censured. Many of us heard the message to “shut up”, were told we couldn’t sing, or that we were too loud, too inappropriate with our exuberant joy. Continue reading

The Sounds of Truth in our Voice

truthJill Mattson – We have the greatest stream of information – reflecting our subconscious mind – surrounding us. Our truth is hiding from us – in plain sight!

A crystal breaks out light into component pitches (wavelengths)… and software breaks out your voice into component pitches. We see our emotions, thoughts and health reflected in the sounds of our voice – because each of those components has a unique vibration. Our voice is our vibrational fingerprint. Continue reading

Reconnecting with the Energy of Past Voices

voiceJill Mattson – Our voice has changed many times throughout our lives reflecting physical, mental and emotional metamorphoses. For example, our voice at two years old was different than the voice we possessed when we were ages 17, 40 or 80. Our voice is also much different when we are depressed, in love or after we land that big contract at work.

When in a meditative state imagine a time in the past. How did your voice sound then? Now, say your name aloud, while still pretending that you are in the past. For example, “I am Jill”, and I vividly imagine being at a picnic when I was eight years old. I listen, feel and grasp the emotions in my words. Now select another memory, recreate the situation in your imagination and say your name again.

How does it feel? Does it sound differently than the earlier voice?

Fabien Maman describes elemental sounds that can be found in our voices: [1]

Metal feels clear and resonant. Some teachers have metallic voices that keep the class awake and command attention. In an unbalanced state people with this voice can be overly meticulous or overwhelming in crowded places.

Air has the feel of uplifting energy, taking one away from the Earthly plane. This voice does not feel grounded or weighted down. Continue reading

Tailor your Voice for different Purposes

voiceJill Mattson – Our voice is a “many splendored tool,” which we do not use to its full potential. We don’t even know it can be tailored for different purposes. Hazrat Inayat Khan, Sufi Master, suggested that you could tell a successful man by the quality of his voice alone. The quickest way to be successful is to alter his voice. Wow, could that really be so?

Why not try it? It can’t be that hard. Listen to the voices of highly successful people that you admire and notice what you like about their voice and then incorporate it into your own voice. Watch your life change!

A powerful voice technique is to practice tailoring your voice to the purpose at hand!
