Trump to Schumer: ‘Never knew how bad a senator you are’

WND Staff – Reacting to criticism of his leadership of the coronavirus pandemic, President Trump delivered a sharp letter to Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., advising him to go and do his job.

“I’ve known you for many years, but I never knew how bad a senator you are for the state of New York, until I became president,” Trump wrote.

He thanked Schumer for his “Democrat public relations letter and incorrect sound bites, which are wrong in every way.”

Trump was responding to Schumer’s charge of an “existing federal leadership void” that “has left America with an ugly spectacle in which states and cities are literally fending for themselves.”

Schumer wants the president to appoint a “czar” with a military background to oversee production of medical equipment and supplies needed to fight the Chinese coronavirus pandemic.

In his letter, Trump complimented New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, both Democrats, noting the cooperation with state and city governments, while Schumer’s been “missing in action.”

The letter:

Trump pointed out that a senior military officer, Rear Adm. John Polowczyk, already is in charge of acquiring material.

The president needled Schumer with: “If you remember, my team gave you this information, but for public relations purposes, you choose to ignore it.”

Trump told the minority leader should have had New York “much better prepared than you did.”

“If you spent less time on your ridiculous impeachment hoax, which went haplessly on forever and ended up going nowhere (except increasing my poll numbers), and instead focused on helping the people of New York, then New York would not have been so completely unprepared for the ‘invisible enemy,'” he wrote.

Schumer reacted with a tweet calling Trump “unserious.”

One Twitter user reacted: “We dunno, Chuck, we read the letter and it seemed pretty d— serious. And spare us, Democrats wasted several days playing games and fighting for partisan funding for things like the Kennedy Center (who then turned around and laid their musicians off despite the funding). Save it.”

Another told Schumer: “He is doing his job. He is being a leader. He’s just not leading us in the direction you want or doing what you order him to. Go back to the senate and work on meaningful legislation (that’s your job).”

  1. Total waste of taxpayers money, how many trash containers would be of better use then this poor excuse of a Senator of any state let alone , try to slam somebody for not doing their job. It does not take a rocket scientist to see who has done a better job in less than four years than he has done on his in his entire career. Talk about throwing stones this wimp is the best reason for recalling non functioning office holders. If NY, has a right to recall anyone of their sorry leaders this dude is the #1, followed by their Governor.
