Weinstein in Handcuffs

harvey weinsteinTiffany FitzHenry – Today Harvey Weinstein pleaded not guilty to a new indictment that includes revised charges of predatory sexual assault. The rape trial had been set to begin Sept 9th, however this new development has caused the judge to delay the start of his trial until early next year.

The prosecution would like Actress Annabella Sciorra to be witness at Weinstein’s rape trial.

Sciorra said Harvey Weinstein violently raped her in the early 1990s. The incident is outside the statute of limitations for prosecution, but she is willing to tell her story at the trial to help bring Weinstein to justice.

Weinstein previously pleaded not guilty to charges accusing him of raping a woman in 2013 and performing a forcible sex act on a different woman in 2006. The case remains about those two women, but prosecutors said the new indictment was needed to allow a third woman, Annabella Sciorra, to testify.

The trial is now set to begin January 6th.

Why I Care, and Why You Should Too

I’m keeping a close eye on the Weinstein trial because, although the wheels of justice turn slow, I believe the prosecution of Harvey Weinstein is a harbinger of things to come for Hollywood. It signifies a changing of the guard. Or more appropriately, a slaying of the guards.

For 100 years Hollywood has been run like a mob.

When it comes to Harvey Weinstein, there’s more than meets the eye. He is not merely a sick, sadistic, power-hungry predator. He is part of a larger system that has co-opted storytelling, enslaved art, artists and the minds of humanity for far long enough – a very important and telling part.

Hollywood has been the main artery for our entire modern storytelling stream. Weinstein was one of the kingpins. A gatekeeper. For decades, Harvey Weinstein, for all intents and purposes, ran Hollywood. Somehow having the authority to decide who was blacklisted, who was not, and who starred in the next Oscar winner. An authority people simply did not question, or cross. It’s hard to overstate his power. When Harvey said, “Mira Sorvino is not to be hired,” no one hired her. No one.

One can only ponder why that was. What was holding this power in place? Like all the dark systems currently crumbling on this planet, I’m fully certain that thing was blackmail.

Given my own experiences with powerful people who make decisions about what gets made in Hollywood, starring, written and directed by whom, I believe Harvey, as powerful as he was, was also just a cog in a larger wheel. An enormous cog, a fat one with nasty skin and a shark eye, but just a cog nonetheless.

I believe Harvey Weinstein was doing what he was designed to do. He was compromising assets, for decades, under the watchful knowing eye of the Disney corporation. You see, if you wanted to be Ariana Grande, or Jennifer Lawrence for that matter, and have that kind of influence, over that many people, well, you were gonna need to go meet with Harvey Weinstein first.

Celebrities do not own their influence, silly goose, someone else does.

In Hollywood, achieving celebrity is about one thing, and it’s not talent. It’s about being willing to do anything.

Selling your soul can take many forms. It might mean writing things you know are coming from the CIA, false narratives that will rewrite history, make American’s consent to endless wars, deceive and divide people, it might mean letting someone more powerful do something depraved to you, and it might mean sleeping with Harvey Weinstein. I want to make one thing perfectly clear, this isn’t about the casting couch – the ‘casting couch’ is something much more than you’ve been lead to believe. The casting couch isn’t a metaphor for Hollywood’s version of sexual harassment, it is an alter upon which stars are born.

It’s for that reason and that reason alone that the Harvey Weinstein rape trial matters.

If this system is to be dismantled, it’s foot soldiers, like Harvey Weinstein, must fall and they must fall hard. Like Humpty Dumpty they must tumble from their high walls and smash so hard onto the smoldering blacktop that all the dark guts and festering secrets are spilled out everywhere.

Enough truth must be revealed so that enough people begin to wonder, “why does Hollywood even exist?” That’s when we’ll know we’re really getting somewhere.

As was famously written by Plato, “Those who tells the stories rules society.” The Harvey Weinstein’s of the world rule society because they are the gatekeepers of our stories; this is arguably the main reason why the world is the way it is.

Once people understand that our stories and our celebrities are all controlled – all compromised and controlled – in order to control us, everything will begin to change.

In Love and Truth,

Tiffany
