What Parents Should Know About CBD Gummies

CBD GummiesCannabidiol (CBD) is a trending health and wellness product that is said to have several health benefits such as pain relief, anti-inflammatory properties, anxiety relief, calming of the nerves and prevention of chronic problems such as diabetes.

It is a completely legal derivative of hemp, the cannabis plant, that does not have any side-effects unlike its THC counterpart. This means that consuming CBD oil in any form will not leave you with any “high” side-effects or problems, and it is not something tested for when undergoing drugs tests. It is widely available in the form of oils, pills and even CBD gummies.

One question on the mind of many parents, though, is whether these CBD products are suitable for children.

#1: Can CBD Be Consumed by Kids?

In short, yes! Cannabinoids even occur in the body naturally and children are frequently exposed to external sources of CBD in their normal life. It is not dangerous and does not have any side-effects. In fact, you may be surprised to learn that human breast milk is a big source of endocannabinoids which aid in early development.

CBD has been widely used in children who suffer from several health problems. One very famous case of this is a girl called Charlotte Figi who was provided with CBD oil to calm her seizures, and it had a virtually instantaneous impact.

#2: What’s the Best Way to Give Kids CBD Oil?

It all depends on your children. CBD comes in many forms, from oil to pills and as sweet candies. It is no surprise that most children prefer to get their CBD through the form of CBD gummies which, much like regular gummy bears, come in a variety of sweet and sour flavors.

CBD gummies are merely regular gummy bears that have been treated with CBD oil. They taste, look and are digested in the same way as normal gummy bears. They are widely available both online and even in some stores.

#3: Don’t Buy THC Products

In some areas where cannabis is legal, THC products are also available. There’s a huge difference between CBD and THC, and you should be very careful to ensure that you don’t end up giving your child THC-treated products such as gummy bears, or oils and pills.

Why? Because THC is the active ingredient in cannabis which binds with your brain’s receptors to create a high. CBD, on the other hand, does not bind with your brain’s receptors and you do not get high. CBD products purchased over the internet or in stores will not contain THC, so it is impossible to get high from them.

It’s always worth checking that you are purchasing a CBD product rather than a THC one; letting a child fall under the influence of drugs is in many cases a crime.

If you want to let your children access the several benefits associated with CBD then you can—it’s completely legal, safe and does not have any side-effects or highs.

  1. I think it should be noted that you shouldn’t given your kids CBD gummies on a whim, or just for the heck of it, and should only do it under the supervision and per the recommendation of a doctor. CBD is a medicine just like any other and should be treated as such.

    1. I agree to an extent. I don’t think it’s wise to run around giving your children medications willy nilly and just “seeing what happens”. However, I don’t think the risks in taking CBD are that big at all (possibly non-existent?)

So I’m not sure there would be much harm in simply trying CBD with your child for whatever their ailment is and seeing if it helps. But I’m of course not a doctor, so don’t take my advice, lol.
