Soren Dreier ~ ‘Get A Little Bit Of Bourbon In Ya’

“Basically it’s not about faking it, but learning to become real and to understand: I’m here to manifest my Self – the best way I can.” S Dreier

RetroGirlI try to find good articles for my readers so I spend some time every day looking for them.

Several times this week I ran into Lana Del Ray, so I took that as a hint to find out who she was and what her music was about.

It can be very hard to find creative and deep music these days, since it all sounds more or less the same to me.

Del Ray has a very distinct ‘wall of sound’ signature and some surprising – disturbing lyrics.
She twists her ‘retro-woman’ that resembles pin-up photos from the 50ties and 60ties, with urban slang 2014. Its not: ‘Good girl gone bad’. It’s more: ‘There’s more to me than catches the eyes or ears.’

The deep melancholic toning of her voice is very special.

The video Cruel World should state both the subtleness and the fierce feminine side.

The lyrics are very interesting, since she obviously is very hurt over her boyfriends leaving her, but she doesn’t fall into the victim trap.

She says: ‘I’m the best’ and also states between the lines: ‘You might have left me, but you’re the one hurting here, since I know how good I am.’

Very self-empowered. It’s his loss, not hers. Even though she expresses hurt and punishes him with her words.

‘Get a little bourbon in ya and go crazy’ is a liberating statement.

I know all to well people driving themselves too hard into rules, regulations and a form of self-neglect, where they don’t allow themselves anything anymore.
It is very good to be disciplined and observe certain rules of conduct and rituals in order to stay spiritually focused, but: Have some fun.

The company of a happy meat eater can be more pleasant than the company of an unhappy veggie. Sometimes we just try too hard in whatever field in order to purify the mind, body and soul. Sometimes we’ve got to go crazy and loosen up. Life has to be lived, attached to and then detached again. It’s a rhythm and a delicate balance.

People tell me: ‘I have sinned – I got tempted and bought two cakes and that’s not good for me, since I have to detox now’.

Okay, do you want to know what sin is?

Sin is the evil in this world, sin is: Gaza, Chemtrails, GMO, Violence in any form and the list is long. Or on a personal note: Poisoning the neighboring cat lady’s cats might be crossing the line.

Sin is not butter cookies and the joy of dancing wrapped so beautifully in the arms of a stranger floating in self-forgetfulness on the dance floor.

Sin is not thinking: It’s Sunday, I should meditate, do yoga and prepare the sprouts for my smoothie, but I’ll rather spend the day by just letting it go.

In the movie ‘Little Buddha’ Keanu Reeves spent time with the hermits in the wood.
Forsaking this world and its pleasures. One day he hears a man in a boat giving instruction on how to play an instrument.

The man says: ‘If you tighten the string too much, it will snap’. Buddha hears that as a message from the universe and leaves the self-torment and walks out of the wood.

I call it ‘pumping spiritual iron’, because that is when you overwork it and really don’t have the muscle to pull it through. And that is perfectly all right.
Little by little we get there to the perfection we seek.

There is a void between existence in the spirit world, which is the world after this and before this and the fulfilment of desires

  1. I am also looking for Soren – hoping he is well. I would love to know if he has a new website. He is missed.

    1. I don’t know how Soren is. We’ve lost touch over the years. I trust he is doing well, and, if still ill, will make a complete recovery. – g
